Two new faculty join the Economics department at Rensselaer, from fall 2003.  Experts in technology creation and its impacts in firms and industries, Professors Adams and Simons add to the department's core research focus in the economics of technology and industry.  James D. Adams, who joins us from the University of Florida, is a research affiliate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.  Kenneth L. Simons, who joins us from the University of London, was Chairman of the UK's Network of Industrial Economists in 2001-2003.  Both new faculty have published in the leading economics journals, including the Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics.  In combination with existing faculty member Donald S. Siegel, Rensselaer is a new nexus for research in technology and industry.
