Research: Industrial organization and technological change. Dynamics of economic systems, esp. long-run industry competitive dynamics.

Bio: Dr. Simons joined Rensselaer in 2003 from Royal Holloway College of the University of London, where he was a Senior Lecturer (equivalent to U.S. Associate Professor).  He was Chairman of the UK's Network of Industrial Economists in 2001-2003, and organized conferences on industrial economics, industry regulation, and Asian technology development.  His work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, Strategic Managent Journal, Industrial and Corporate Change, and Explorations in Economic History.  He recieved his bachelor's from MIT and his master's and PhD (in 1995) from Carnegie Mellon University.
