Lining He received his M.A. degree in Economics from McMaster University in Canada. He also holds a B.E. degree in electronics and information engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. With these two backgrounds, Lining has a good foundation for graduate studies in Ecological Economics. Lining has a love for nature as well as mathematics. After finishing his studies, he would like to be able to change impoverished situations in underdeveloped countries.

M. S. Sorin Krammer has a B.S. in Economics from West University of Timisoara, Romania and a M.S. in Strategic Management from Technical University Timisoara as well as an Advanced Studies Certificate (M.S. equivalent) in International Economic Policy Research from Kiel Institute of World Economics in Kiel, Germany. Prior to his doctoral education, he has worked as an economist and held various positions in the Romanian industry and NGO sector. His research interests are in the creation, adoption and diffusion of knowledge. Specifically, he is interested in how different industrial structures and institutional settings shape the patterns of innovation, technological catching-up and economic development in emerging economies. His current initiatives include: international knowledge spillovers, patent analysis, intellectual property rights, technological alliances, and economic development.

Chunbo Ma was born and grew up in Tianjin and studied physics for one year before completing a BA in Economics at Nankai University after which he completed a masters program in Environmental Economics, Values and Policy (EEVP) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Department of Science and Technology Studies. His current research focuses on the interaction between China's energy consumption, economic growth and environmental impacts. Deborah Nazon received her Master degree in Geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She previously worked as a full-time employee at RPI as the Assistant Provost for Institute Diversity. Deborah has received a Rensselaer Graduate Fellowhship for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 academic years. Deborah's interests include redevelopment of polluted areas and in particular the environmental and economic impact in the redevelopment of brownfield areas.

Marius S. Sarah Parrales received her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University in Forest Science and her M.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute/State University in Wood Science Forest Products. Her interests encompass the fields of economics and natural resource management. She is especially interested in economic growth of developing regions of the world and the roles that forest resources play in that growth or lack of growth. She chose to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Ecological Economics because she believed that her career is hinged on her ability to understand the dynamic relationships among societies, their economies, and environments.

Nat Springer received his B.A. from St. John,s University in Collegeville, MN with dual degrees in Environmental Studies and Peace Studies. His interdisciplinary training in both the social and natural sciences sparked his interest in PhD program. Nat,s wide range of interests include a particular concern for global warming. He intends to use ecological economics to understand the economic currents underlying pressing environmental and social issues.

Ran Zhang joined the Ph.D. program after receiving her M.A. degree in Economics from University of Toulouse 1, France. She loves economics armed with the strong analytical power provided by mathematics, which make economics more concrete than the other social sciences. Her interests lies in research topics such as development, technology transfer, and intellectual property rights. The ecological emphasis of the Ph.D. program offers a good opportunity for broadening her horizons.
